The Environmental Defence Society has launched its comprehensive guide to the Fast-track Approvals Act which came into effect in December 2024. Applications for consents under the act went live last week.
“The updated Environment Guide provides clear, accessible and digestible information to help individuals, community groups and businesses understand the key elements of this new law,” said EDS CEO Gary Taylor.
“New content also reflects recent changes to other environmental laws. The Guide is an up-to-date one-stop shop for those wishing to understand our legislative and regulatory environmental regime. It is written in a neutral manner, simply stating how the law is intended to work.
“Further changes are on the cards including replacement of the Resource Management Act, a review of 14 national direction instruments, and the addition of 7 new ones.
“EDS will be regularly updating the content of the Guide to include such changes and evolving case law. We are also planning software enhancements to improve access and readability.
“The Environment Guide is the go-to site to keep abreast of all these changes,” Mr Taylor concluded.
